It’s been a busy and exciting week at CHC. Monday night we had the Sub Deb archery tournament. The Kickapoos won that one. We also had the cookout for the Gauchos and Tree Trimmers (Junior Deb Riding and Campcraft clubs.) They enjoyed hot dogs and s’mores on the hill and a pretty spectacular sunset. Last night we had Canoe Races! It’s a night full of nerves, intense competition, sportsmanship, and heart. The score was 54 – 45 Kickapoos. All of the canoers did so well, especially considering they missed a full week of canoeing this term. This morning the staff served breakfast in bed to our four week Honor Cabin winners: Cabins 6, 1, 9B, and 10! Earning breakfast in bed is no easy feat and we are proud of them! Today is the last day of classes, which is so hard to believe. Tonight and the next couple of days will be full of practices for Closing, packing, and probably some tears. A reminder of the Closing Weekend schedule: The gates open at 4:00pm Friday afternoon for Watershow at 4:45. Another change this year is that parents will come across the dam and watch Watershow from this side of the Creek! After Watershow, parents will leave. Gates will reopen at 9:00 Saturday morning. When you arrive on Saturday, we will load your camper’s luggage into your cars before you park and go across the dam. Don’t forget to bring your application card for next summer and a $300 deposit! When you arrive either Friday or Saturday, please go to the Veranda where you can collect your camper’s medicine and jewelry and register her for next summer.
We’ve had a pretty special summer after a very challenging year, and we are so thankful. Thank you for trusting us with your children. There are so many wonderful camps to choose from in the Texas Hill Country, and we are so glad you made the right choice! See you very soon!
